I built a 383 iron block, afr heads, spec'd cam, common stuff, with a tvs1900 and it would only produce 9psi with the smallest pulley.
I understand that boost is only a measur... blah.
But we built this engine for 15psi and just couldn't get it.

The truck is very strong though.
Maybe with a larger crank pulley it'll produce more boost one day.

The blower is limited by the drive pulley, a larger crank pulley would have gotten you there easily.

I see 11.1PSI with my 112 on my 5.3L, I would assume one could get 12-13 fairly easily.

On my 6.0 I was able to make 10.5lbs with a 2.8 front pulley. When I switched to a 8 1/2" crank pulley it added a touch over 2psi. So that would put my results right in there with yours as I have less CI's. Even with a smaller cam I don't think I could have gotten 15psi out the 1900. But it ran great and made great power too.

The 1900 on a 5.3 is a great combo. Your cam choice will affect your max boost too.

Go for it

I've put them on before and I don't think 5psi would have been achieved, but there really are no complaints with the setup, instant torque, pulls good, customer is happy, so that's what matters!

that's a little different setup than what we did.

Another project coming up is a 408 with a tvs2300, I still don't expect to make tons of boost with this setup as well, but that's why we went 10.2 compression on this engine, should be fun and most importantly, the customer wants a low boost, instant torque monster.
oh ya, it's going on a sheriffs truck hahah. they need instant power up to about 120mph , and good torque for border patrolling and going off road.
you wouldn't believe how hard these guys are on their trucks!
that's one reason we're doing a maggy, good reliability!

thanks for the input,

allen
