Default Magnacharger Tear Down?

Guys,
Thinking about pulling the blower to do some painting.

Instead of pulling it entire. Thinking about just splitting it between the intake and head unit. Have a look at the rotors and the inter-cooler. About 50K miles on the blower now. With methanol and recently nitrous through it. Interesting to see the innards. I read a lot about the lightning guys cleaning the inter cooler as part of routine maintenance but nothing about guys doing it with the Radix? Can it be done?

Anything wrong or difficult about separating it from the intake? Is there a gasket or the the red loctite sealer between them there?

Post up any experiences please.

Enjoy. LOL When I did my 90mm mod, I pulled the blower to do inj swap as well. I took the j-tube off and I gotta admit, having 70K on it and as clean as the rotors looked fromt the rear I was impressed. Granted I don't run meth on the street like you guys though. The only thing that peaked my interest was all the goop and carbon from the oil pickup. Which I got rid of at that time.

There are a few threads floating around here of people going in it with no real problems, but they pulled the whole unit.

Haven't done it myself but can't imagine it being that bad of a job. Do take pics! I have been considering doing this as well during the winter...

I know the lightning guys do it all the time to pull the rotor coating out of the HX or to just strip the rotor coating off. I have seen some pretty nasty pics over at nolc.net.

there is a perimeter o-ring and several individual o-rings for the bolt holes, a dab of high temp silicone where the perimeter o-ring butts together and its all good. You won't be able to see the rotors unless you pull the I/C where you'll need some 3/4" stat-o-seals and O-rings.

dont strip the rotor coating off!! that is a very 'not smart' thing to do.

No I wouldn't pull the rotor coating off. Just a look see how it is fairing and if anything has come off get it out of the I/C.

Uhhh, read my post. The Lightning guys do it. The coating flakes off and clogs their intercooler. I have seen dozens of Lightning guys do it.
