Moregrip (i think) did a big write up on the evolution of the Roots style superchargers. As stated above the 122 is larger, the HH is more efficient.
Efficiency is what we want, less parasitic loss and less heat generated at the same output level.

When I was shopping around for my maggie, I spoke with Lingenfelter and had the best analogy.
"The 112 on anything over a 6.0L is like trying to fill up a bath tub with a coffee cup, the 122 would be like using a 5 gallon bucket to fill it up...much more efficient..."
