i have a 04 sierra ex-cab, I had an sts on for several years and got tired of always working on it, i have 107500 miles on the 5.3 with a custom turbo cam and a nelson tune, also have a built 4l60 with a 3000 yank converter, I need info on the most cost effective way to go supercharged. was thinking a lq4 new cam and not sure what to do. want to see around 500hp to the tires, any input? I do drive the truck alot but want it to haul *** when need to, should i leave the 5.3?
I cant remember the exact specs, it was a custom grind allen recommended. I have the hardened push rods and springs, the cam worked great with the turbo, not sure how it would do with a magnacharger? could i get somewhere in the mid 400hp range with the 5.3 without changing heads? and i really dont want to change out the convertor just had the tranny rebuilt and converter gone through. which maggie should i run? i want it to be reliable and want it to perform without alot of problems that i had with the STS, i do have heavy GM 20"s. The STS could never even get into the 13's; shipped truck from FL to Allen's shop in TX to get it tuned right. Never happy w/. STS kit, fun on street but at track it sucked for me anyway.
My guess uis ya don't really care if it's 450 HP or 500 RWHP, long as it runs mids 12's, right? An exhaust biased cam will help make more power in a supercharged application, any of the sponsors can sell and recommend a cam for your application. What is your budget? A blower is going to need headers and any form of FI will benefit from meth. A used radix 112 will get you into the 12s pretty easy with some stick tires on the rear at the track and will give you all the low end you could want.

If I were you, I'd get a TVS1900. It makes more HP & it's more efficient than 112, some even say better MPG too.

Absolutely!!! I just want this bitch to break into the 12 second range without buying a bunch of parts i dont need, will the tvs be that much more responsive than a mp112 for the cost difference? i sure do like the way the 112 sounds as well. oh, and yes it is the truck thruster yank.

I'm not the person to answer how much more responsive it is or isn't. I don't have 1 of ea. to compare. But I didn't say 1 won't find it's way into my hands. Quick answer: Call Joe or get a hold of Blown Chevy. A lil whine never hurt anyone, unless ya want a sleeper. TVS is supposed to be quieter too.
