I understand your reasoning and I'm with you as far as not wanting to have to convert to a Gen IV set up to allow use of a Gen IV style cam, but unless you find a used GT-7 you would be out of luck. Lingenfelter say's they have discontinued production of the GT-7 since there are so many similarities between the two and of course the price savings of the camshaft alone.

http://www.proheads.com/ can get you a custom cam straight to you from comp cams. I can't remember how much mine was but it was very competitive.

yall are missing some of the point that although the ls9 may be cheaper, its a gen 4 cam, so it will end up costing about the same.

Going with this cam in my 5.3l gen 3, found a lightly used 05 ls2 timing cover, cam sensor and cam sprocket for under a hundred and will extend my cam sensor harness myself. Just gotta look for deals.

It would be cheaper for me to stay with a GEN III cam.

Bottom line is that I want more power at or around the same boost level that I'm currently at. I dynoed 420 RWHP 510 RWTQ at 7 PSI (WG spring only). I would like 500 RWHP, so if a cam made for boost would get me there over my current LS6 cam then that's the direction I'll go. Obviously I could put a boost controller on or different WG spring and get more boost, but I'd like to keep it on the low side to keep my motor alive longer. Your thoughts?

I was going to use that cam, the specs, don't remember exactly, were simillar to the ls6 except for the lift. I just put yella terra 1.8s on and have .582 204/218 lsa117, with my ls6cam!! There were a lot of them on ebay selling under 100 bucks!!
