Looks Like I pushed my motor a little to hard on E85

I might if I don't get this tranny thing worked out soon
I figured with the big increase in power the factory freak stocker I have would probable get pissed at me like the 4.8 did,
. I'm sticking with a 4l65e for at lease 1 shot, lol. This tranny has pretty much everything you can do to it done, so with how I drive my truck, I think it will live since I made the stock tranny live so long. I thought about doing the 80, but is so much more of a PIA in the 4wd, then the 2wd...

Just make sure it dont shift too hard..

Ya... on a 2wd all you have to do is what, change the drive shaft yoke, move the mount and rewire the plug? On the 4wd, it's 2" longer the the 4wd 60's, so I have to buy 2 new drive shafts, move the tranz mount a bunch, change the input on the t-case plus the rewiring and stuff. A bit more $$ and work involved. Might happen if this beast of a 65 won't hold what i want, probable regret it, but I think with proper tranz tuning and driving it will last as well as my stocker. Only looking for about 700/700 out of this motor, lol.

Ended up with a LS1 block. Bought the short block with a spun bearing for only $250 and only needed to be honed, and I had another crank already. Local junk yard wanted $125 for just a 5.3 iron block and I sill would have had to have it bored. I'm in the middle of the swap right now. I ended up with the Mahle pistions and Scat I beam rods.
I've been eyeing them over at scoggin dickey and they seem like a great budget upgrade from the stock rod. I might spend the extra coin on a used set of billet olivers to hang off the JE's that I scored.

Well, you'll be about 80 pounds lighter, so thats a plus. How was the balancing and the tolerances on those scat I beams?

Thats good to learn. The Scat rods are advertised at a average 590 gram weight which is 18g lighter than the factory rods. If I don't hear back about the Oliver's, I think I'll go with them.
Do you mind sharing where you got the rods from and for how much?
