Thanks for the research Kyle, was pretty interesting watching you work. I'll stick to the expensive gas though!

Should be a nice, stronger then stock replacement engine
I think I remember from reading car craft back in high school that the speed pro's are good, but heavy pistons. I haven't heard much about their lsx stuff.

Those floating pins on the lq9's should be nice. And those 317's are within 10cfm of LS6's. That should get you around 9.5:1 with about 5cc reliefs and a .040" quench.

I'm on the lookout for lq9/ls2 rods now, since my baby cam showed up today.

Do you have any progress on the Iron 5.7? I got a tracking number for my pistons, rings, pins and locks today. Now it's just time for rods and then off to the machine shop.

Ended up with a LS1 block. Bought the short block with a spun bearing for only $250 and only needed to be honed, and I had another crank already. Local junk yard wanted $125 for just a 5.3 iron block and I sill would have had to have it bored. I'm in the middle of the swap right now. I ended up with the Mahle pistions and Scat I beam rods.

I might if I don't get this tranny thing worked out soon

I figured with the big increase in power the factory freak stocker I have would probable get pissed at me like the 4.8 did, . I'm sticking with a 4l65e for at lease 1 shot, lol. This tranny has pretty much everything you can do to it done, so with how I drive my truck, I think it will live since I made the stock tranny live so long. I thought about doing the 80, but is so much more of a PIA in the 4wd, then the 2wd...
