Using glycol serves two purposes in a cooling system, anti-corrosion and to keep fluid from freezing in cold climates (hence also referred to as "anti-freeze." Glycol isn't actually in there to aid heat transfer.

 

Glycol actually inhibits heat transfer by a small degree. That's why straight water is a better coolant, with a number of limitations that outweigh the benefits. Some race tracks will not allow vehicles to run unless they have straight water for coolant. My local track does that for motorcycle races. It keeps the track from getting slick in the event of coolant loss

75/25 is about the best it gets. Good to about -10F and provides better heater transfer than 50/50

 

Probably the biggest consideration is it can get -50 farenheit where i live, granted i park in a heated garage, my truck may sit outside for up to most of the day while im at work. It is plugged in of course with a block heater and heat pads on the oil pans. I think i can pick up this intercooled p1sc kit for about $1500 bucks, ill need a few odds and ends (ls bracket, injectors etc). Less stuff go wrong, the better. Not going for all out power just a little more go, and some towing power.

 

Im really happy with my torqstorm kit. Its on my 86 c30 with a 2004 lq4. It fit great and everything is good quality. Ive had it on for about 6 mos or so. Id say it makes about 450 to the tires. I really need to get it on the dyno just been crazy busy.

 

Why wouldn’t it be legal in the SC cooling system. It doesn’t interact with the engine cooling system at all.

 

Because how do you make water wetter if there's no water to wet ......... Ok failed attempt to be funny but I am genuinely curious if you ran straight water wetter with no water? I have seen gallon jugs of it just never thought about running it alone.

 

its just a surfactant. Adding dish soap to water has the same effect. Its a highly priced bottle of soap, basically

Their customer service is on point. With sub-zero temps I would definitely ask about oil recommendations. I have some construction equipment that runs recently expired aviation oil for sub-zero conditions. Might not be good enough for a jet but it works for me.

Gotta drain the coolant. So that's a bummer, but they are a really robust unit from what I read. Saw them at LS Fest '18 and SEMA '19. Super nice ppl, provided me help when my Procharger was pissing it's guys out in my engine bay. Nice looking kit, everything is well machined and attractive
