Default Livernois Turbokit and towing

so on a DD with a gt-37 turbo, good size intercooler. How bad is this setup going to hurt my towing? How reliable is this once its setup? I want to be able to install it, get tuned, and not worry about it, other than 3k mile oil changes and normal maintenence. Keep in mind I'll be running it everyday, sometimes in 100* heat most of the time empty but sometimes towing >3000lbs. is it possible or am I dreaming?

I don't want to scare you off, but similar to the GMC Syclone, we don’t recommend towing anything over 500 lbs. We have a customer that ordered the kit that was aware of this and he said he was going to make it so the wastegate was always open. This may help, but we don’t recommend it. The constant load on the engine could cause serious engine and/or transmission damage, not to mention will also cause the turbo to get very hot and could possibly melt down the turbo wheel.

damn. what about a temp gauge or some way to monitor the turbo? as it sits stock, the truck doesnt even know the boat is on there. If I had to guess, Id say the boat/trailer comes in at less than 1800lbs.

wait- isnt this used on 4 door cab trucks? whats the diff between that truck alone and mine that weighs the same WITH a trailer? My truck with me in it only weighs about 4500lbs.

Damn so you cant tow at all with the Livernois kit? With sts alot fo guys tow with it. What makes the Livernois kit not able to tow? I was thinkin about puttin one of these kits on my truck after next summer but I tow so I guess if you cant tow with it then this kit is out of the question. I have a built forged motor going into my truck and soon will have the ability to tune myself would I still not be able to use the kit for towing? Sorry for the thread hijack I thought you would be able to tow with the kit also.

500 pounds?????
Not sure what good a fast and modded $$$$ TRUCK would do me if it meant no more fishing trips with the kids. My boat weighs in at about 4 - 5000lbs and the burb was always happy to oblige.

how about general drivability with this thing? can I install it, get a SD tune, and not worry? last thing I want is a pain in the ***.

Drivability is great even without a SD tune. We've driven the Escalade from Michigan to Florida and back twice and drive it all the time during the summer months. When you're not in the gas, you don't even know it's there.

anders on this site probably has the most mileage in the shortest amount of time with the kit on his turbo Denali. Maybe he'll chime in and tell you about his experiences with the kit and driveability, power, etc.

Default Driveability

I had my kit installed during the spring and have had no issues. I drive up to northern Michigan once a month, and there are no drivability issues. The low end torque is up a bit, and around 2,000-2,500 the turbo start to load up a bit, and then the power kicks in... I have the car full of kids, and toys, and once in a while, a trailer...

Oil change every 3,000 miles, and that's it.... You'll love it!

thanks anders. Thats the kind of thing I want to hear... My truck with my boat will most likely weigh less than yours does unloaded .
