Lets talk exhaust on boosted motors please

I was digging on Magnaflow's site last night...you can buy individual pieces there. Looks like an extension pipe, 30" muffler and a tailpipe section would be cheap to buy. I can cut up my existing Y and mate the 4" pipe right to that. Fab up a few hangers, throw on a tip and call it done. Surely it wouldn't be too loud with a 30" muffler on it....and loud is definitely not what I'm after. The quieter the better.

I have been thinking about the same w my truck. 3 in dp and full 3 in back into a flow master 40 series. Chambered mufflers flow for **** but keep the noise down. Any bigger or a flowing muffler would make more power but be loud, maybe to loud

If it's too loud I'll definitely try one of these in 4": FTE Resonator 5" Aluminized
I used the 30" resonator with a Hushpower muffler in a 5" system on my 900+ HP Cummins and it was literally as quiet as a stock truck at idle and not much louder at WOT. I added those parts to an open 5" system and saw zero change in EGT's and while not dynoed I didn't feel any difference in power at all.

When I was trying to quiet down my 4" exhaust I kept coming across Diesel forums, posts, and what not and was basing that for my comparison. Until I was schooled by KB(racing), diesel's are much quieter than gassers. Even with a huge 4" muffler and a helmholtz chamber my 4" turbo back is still pretty loud. It's reasonable, but there's really no way to get a 4" down to the decibel levels of a 3" IMO. Also, I looked at those FTE resonators, but wouldn't use one. There's no way that it necking down to 1 or 2" inside like it does doesn't impeded flow.

It's just an odd pic...the center is hollow but it's like an auger bit....it's actually open all the way through. The only thing that can impede any flow is the thickness of the metal and that's minimal if anything.
Trust me...if it hurt flow it would have shown up on my big motor as higher EGT's.
I went from way too loud and so much drone that you couldn't have a conversation at 70mph to quiet as stock with absolutely zero drone.
