600rwhp seems to be about the edge for any sort of longevity out of a stock longblock.

Yep^^^^, Bout 800 flywheel , roughly in that range or more the factory rods will bend. Stay round 550-600 at the wheels youll be good to go!

Thanks for the responses guys. I think my mind is made up in favor of the turbo. Since this is my dd, my goal will be either 500hp, or the limit of the stock fuel pump. Which ever one comes first. At roughly 20 hp per lb of boost, i think that should only take ~10 lbs to accomplish.

TRICK PERFORMANCE:

Knowing that my goal is either 500hp or maxing out the stock pump, do I really need a 76mm? I plan to go with a ball bearing turbo for quick spooling either way, but will a 70mm get the job done on a reasonable amount of boost? Would I be in a more optimal part of the compressor map with the 70mm? I dont wan't to run meth, I want to hit my hp goals, and I also want quick spooling. Basically I want my cake and eat it too. Lol... Which do you recommend?

A T70 will make 500 at the wheels with out to much trouble. I made 505rwhp on my old 4.8 with a small cam and 11 psi of boost it ran really well like that. Very little lag and IAT's where good also. You really only need a T76 if you wanting to make over 600hp.

Turbo pros... completely adjustable boost, no belt to throw or slip, sounds awesome, easier to cool air, meth does not touch turbo, fuel economy , AND cost less!

Turbo cons... traction is a long lost memory.

I am one sided you see, but all of what I say is true.

Keep in mind you will need a lot of nickle and dime stuff with the turbo... oil feed, oil drain, fuel pump, injectors, intercooler, trans shift kit, new air filter, etc...

Oil feed, drains, air filter, and intercooler come in my kits.

70mm turbo will get u to 500 pretty easy. And going ball bearing will help spool nicely.
