How small is to small?Turbo wise
Just looking for a small amount of boost to pick up on some highway mileage when towing my 18' bass boat. I dont need anything crazy. 5 psi at most, dont have the big bucks for one of KB's kits or Ricks. I have a LQ4,turbo cam from Stock48 and a 2800 stall and 48lbs injectors and a Wheatley tune and other then that bone stock motor wanna keep the motor around, Are these cheap ebay turbo's even worth looking into? Thx Gents..

I would not risk a cheap turbo they spin too fast to have some cheap parts explode, risk messing with the engine. If you are not looking at max hp at rpm, I think a 70 mm will be fine for your set up. Should spool fast, stay in the power band untill the upper rpms if you stay in it.

I think KB is having a sale on his turbo kits right now. You could save money by getting a non-intercooled kit although your IATs could get pretty high towing a boat even on 5lbs. Trick has a non-intercooled kit as well that you might check out.
I would go with a 70mm turbo with either a .96 or 1.00 A/R exhaust housing. Turbos build boost as a load is put on the engine. My .96 A/R housing will build 1-3lbs. of boost going up a fairly steep hill with the cruise set on 75. Add a bass boat to that and it would hit 5lbs easily.
I am skeptical to whether you will gain much fuel economy from the turbo but the driveablity will defiantly be better.

I'd go with one of KB kits or tricks kits on the 70's they have will be perfect for what you're wanting it has Awesome reliability and easy enough for you to install at home with a few tools, and what KB has right now is almost a steal at the price he has.
