how much is too much?
So I am still going through and figuring out some things for my build and need some input from people that have been there done that.
vehicle in question is a 2009 silverado cc sb 2wd 5.3L.
Trying to set some HP goals, my biggest thing is deciding between a big single setup, twin set up or big *** supercharger.
what is too much to still daily? should i make a goal around 600hp or could i go crazy and do 800-1000? since its heavy at any of those power levels im sure the drivetrain will need some going through for sure, maybe more so if i go over 600hp, which i think is very achievable and reasonable.

It just depends on what you want to do with the truck. I've had trucks with 4-800hp and daily driven them all. Even cross country. Personally, I think around 600 is a good dd number. That will blow the tired off on most any street tire and hook up and run a good number on a DR at the track on street night. I'd stick to a single turbo as that's going to be your best bang for the buck. Still going to be best to swap to a 4l80e unless you just like working on transmissions all the time, lol.

Alright cool ill put those on my list of things to check out. i figured around 600 was safe and would be fun but was curious.
I will look into the trans swap as im currently running a 6l80e

i need to just start a real project but i want to be selfish and have a fun DD first so i may just call it a good 600ish on this one.......... for now anyway.
I have had the taste for several years and i know this could potentially not be enough. was lead engineer on a college team and we redone a cbr600f4i engine and threw a GT12 turbo on it.. and threw that in a custom built frame, the necessary 20mm restrictor really didnt help it but man was it fun to drive.
need to convince dad (since he has always wanted to do it) to get a c10 or similar restore it and put hella chop chop in it! he loves the cam lope on the harleys

I vote same however all I really care about is a time/mph rather than a dyno #. Mainly a time because its hard to mph with a car anyway unless you spend a fortune.

Sounds very famiilar! My truck is also my daily. 2008 CCSB LTZ, 5.3 2wd. I decided 550-600ish would be plenty for a fun, reliable daily that still gets down pretty good for a street truck. I've been gathering parts for a while, don't have much left to buy really.
Here's what I've went with:
-KB Racing hot pipe kit
-VS Racing Billet 7875 kit (Billet 7875 turbo, 44mm WG, 50mm BOV, 31x12x3 FMIC kit, Oil kit)
-Walbro 450 - Deka 80s
-Circle D 3200 converter with billet front cover
I think all I really need to put everything on is a boost gauge and wideband, although to get to my end goal I still need to pick up the cam, DOD delete and valve springs. I think thats it though unless I'm missing something.
