Nope not really.

 

there is a point but will you find it with your build? probably not

 

A lot more power than you can hook to the street......
Good valves (keep stock or go slightly larger) and a GOOD valve job are all that is really needed.

my buddy has gone deep 9's on 317's

 

I know I'm not setting any records but I'm happy with my 708rwhp on AI ported 317's on my stock LQ9 short block.

 

now you can have a set ported which will always make more power but if your wallet doesnt allow it then move onto next item

sloppy boyss one car went 7s at 2800lbs with a set of 317s

 

I know I am nowhere near it... but I'm also not worried about it. I run 15PSI through a cam only LQ9. I don't hit that often, but I have done it. Typically I run it at a max of 13#.

 

I have stock casting 317s on my truck and I am pretty sure I am north of 1k horsepower. I had them cleaned and a valve job done that was it. Not sure what type of FI you are using but I think money is better spent elsewhere in most cases.
