Decided to run the 317s. BTR platinum spring kit, Manley SS Valves, valve job, ls9 gaskets and CHE trunnion upgrade. I’m just gonna run what I’ve got for now and see how she does. If I feel the need to go for more, these CT winters will give me a few months to work it all out.
So I just picked up a set of 39k 243s. Got them for a hell of a price and couldn’t pass them up. The motor is in but there’s still alot to do. Nothing is plumbed or wired so if I was going to swap heads, now would be the time. Question is, is it worth it?
Yes, 8s is very low. I'm running milled 243s on a 6.0 bored 30 over with LS9 gaskets. I'm going to be maxing out a 2.3L Whipple on it. 10.2:1 compression ratio and not worried. It's all in the tune. With running meth, its even safer.
Also, just saw your other thread. That thing is clean!
That’s what I’m leaning towards. I may not mill them very much at all, but I do plan on running meth and I think these 243s are gonna keep me at a safe CR with ls9 gaskets
Yeah, I have these from running NA on a 5.3. I went with what I thought were -11cc pistons and the site description was wrong. They ended up being -15cc. So my CR is lower than what I was shooting for.
I think I’m gonna take advantage of the fact that the bay is wide open and swap in the 243s. The manifolds need to come back off for ceramic coating anyway and I can swap all the internals over from the 317s. I’m gonna be spending more time out of boost than not, so I’d rather it feel strong out of boost too
It just makes sense to do it now if I’m gonna do it at all. I’m really considering sending them out to get ported before bolting them on. They’re just in such great shape
