Default Which heads for a Radix 5.3?

Thinking about getting a set of heads when changing the lifters. I am leaning towards a set of WCCH stage 2 heads. Any thoughts/suggestions? What are reasonable gains to expect?

I choose to go with an aftermarket head rather than a stock head cnc ported. I got the Dart 225's for about the same price that the WCCH cost. I believe that they flow more out of the box, have bigger valves and lots of room to grow.

You won't see the same gains as NA but should see some ( 40hp vs 25hp ). I personally would look at a set of the #317 6.0L heads. It will allow you to increase the boost level due to the reduced CR and less potential for detonation. They have the "D" shaped exhaust ports and larger valves, plus you can find them for about $300.

Why would the gains be less with forced induction?

Isnt the bore on a 6.0 too large for the 5.3 bore?

According to the DART website, the 225's flow 216 cfm on the exhaust side where the WCCH flow 223, both at .600 lift.

I agree with the room to grow aspect, but they will probably not have to be removed. At least I hope not. lol

I have a set of WCCH 5.3L stage 2 heads for my 5.3L Silverado w/Radix. My WCCH Stage 2 heads flow 225.8 @ .600 lift on the exhaust side according to the flow chart that I recieved with the heads. I will be driving my truck this friday for the first time in about 4 months so I will finally get to feel what the Radix, Heads, & Cam did to my truck. In a couple of weeks I will be going to the dyno to find out what kind of numbers my truck will put down. I dont know much about the Dart heads so I cannot comment on those, I am just telling you that I had a great experience with WCCH. Just call Richard @ WCCH and talk to him. He is very, very helpful.

I was leaning towards WCCH heads myself. Others on the board have recommended Dart, but they don't flow as well. 216cfm for the Dart 225. I know they can probably be cnc'ed to outflow the WCCH heads, but that would be more money on top on the cost of the heads.

I have talked to Richard and just wanted to make an educated decision when purchasing heads.

Do the 6.0l heads just bolt on with no modifications, or is it a complicated process?

it doesn't seem worth lowering the compression. the radix will only make around 12-13psi on a 5.3L at best anyway.

i responded to you pm and also sugested some stock 6.0 heads. i dont think you will get a very good hp/$$ spending good money on heads. after thinking about it a little i would forget the heads all together and just slap a used 6.0 longblock in there. you can get a complete motor for ~1200 or so and you will see more hp for less money with a stock 6.0 then a headed 5.3.
