Default headers affect on supercharger

How does headers affect a supercharger will it drop boost versus stock manifolds

You might see a slight drop in boost (1-2psi), but the gains from the headers will more than make up for the boost drop. Plus you can always throw on a slightly smaller pulley to bring the boost back up. Either way, a good set of long tubes is always recommended on any supercharged application.

Well I was planning on going to a smaller pulley to gain 3# more of boost and add the header since I have the top apart

What are your current mods: exhaust, intake, heads, cam, anything that could effect boost. And how much psi do you see now at max boost? I'm not too familiar with the roots blowers but all superchargers are normally effected by any and all of those mods. Like I said though, gains you'll see from adding the long tubes will outweigh the small loss in boost.

Like said, you will lose 1-2 psi but will gain top end and probably lose a bit of low end (I did). Boost is a measure of resistance, so headers, cam, better flowing heads will reduce measured boost but make more power.

Ahh, I wasn't aware that you didn't have the blower on the truck yet. Go ahead and pick up a set of long tubes if you've got the cash, it'll help the blower breathe better and you'll want to ditch the cats anyway before you put the whipple on. A set of ceramic coated pacesetters with ory will more than suffice for your build and you'll be glad you went ahead and got them now. Cam also wouldn't be a horrible idea but isnt totally necessary and keep in mind with a cam you'll need pushrods and valve springs and depending on the size of the cam probably a higher stalled converter.

Headers help you get more air out, the blower is already pushing more in. As others have said, you will get a slight drop in boost. If you pulley back to the same boost level you were at before you put headers on then it will make more power at the same PSI.

Just read your cam thread and changed my mind on the header choice now that I know you have a nnbs with the 6.2. I'd look into the ARH or something else with 1-7/8" primaries. A friend of mine have ARH on his 08 Denali and they fit great and he loves them.
