I am wondering if the GT-67 will not spool quick enough with the stock TC, and the 60-1 spooling to quick while to towing.

If you plan on using the truck mainley for towing I would definitly suggest going with the GT 67. You can also get that in a ball bearing turbo if you deem it necessary. The intercooler and methanol kit is also a good idea to keep everything in line.

thank you for your input. I dont know much about turbos really, so if you dont mind giving me some details of why you believe that a 67 would be great for my 5.3 and towing, please let me know. im trying to learn everything I can from the people that know. you, wilde racing, blownchevy, spoolin, etc.

The increase load of the trailer will spool a GT-67 on a 5.3 with a stock TC at around 2K (assumption based on my old 5.3 + GT76) That is pretty much optimal range for your towing needs. I think Wilde hit it on the nail with the 60-1 & GT-67 comparison. And if you do as much towing are suggesting than a bigger turbo will work better. Wilde tows a boat quite a bit too so he's had first hand experience with the 5.3 and GT-67.

as i said, this a later project, but I always plan and get my combo's ready way before I buy. i want to make sure that everything matches perfectly. hell, it took a year to get the scheme I wanted to do in my boat. LOL a little about OCD about planning and having matching combo's you might say. LOL

thank you Spoolin. just the info I was looking for. I tow 3 things. one thing much more than the others though. My 2500lb ski boat plus trailer, my 390lbs + trailer SeaDoo (LMAO) and a 3600lbs car + trailer. (mostly buddies cars for now, I sold my 79 Z28)

A 60-1 would be a great fit for a 5000+ lbs truck. With a trailer your weight jumps to 12000+ which is asking that 60-1 to tow a little more than is ideal for that size turbo. The GT-67 will be better matched for such a heavy rig and still give you room to grow should you want to upgrade to a 6L at some point. With a trailer the GT-67 will feel like the 60-1 would without a trailer...as far as spool time is concerned.

also, I do plan on staying 5.3L. I dont plan on ever doing a 6.0 to tell you the truth. once again spoolin, you answered my questions to a T. Thank you and others for taking the time to help a FI dummy out.
