Gen 4 5.3 turbo/cam combo?

If it takes that long to spool then theres a hotside/wastegate issue, boost leak, or the tune is not where it needs to be because that turbo and a good cam/converter combo should be at full tilt by 4000 or less on a 385 with 10:1 plus compression.

you talking at lower rpm or peak? My 80/92 1.1 T6 makes full boost at 3200 on the foot brake. Once converter is locked it builds boost below 2k

That was a hypothetical used to explain something. Mine didn't have issues spooling. It ran decent, but not well enough for the combination.

I've broken down the science as to why that combo suffered from the cam a number of times, but people's eyes tend to glaze over before I finish. If there was a sensor that could tell you how much inert gas stays in the combustion chamber and the intake port when cam profile gets more aggressive, people would start getting the picture...
