Turbo is a 1.10 a/r t4 housing with an 87mm exhaust wheel.

Stall is a 3400 yank. I can only get it to flash to about 2400. Talked with yank and might loosen it up to a 3600.

Your turbo should spool pretty good! I’d go 4:10 or 4:11 gears, It does sound like you’re in the same boat as me! My converter is right where I like it! I daily my truck, so I didn’t want a high stall converter. If I were you, I’d do the gear change first to see if you really need to loosen up your torque converter.

That is the only plan, gears are cheaper so I will try them first and see how it goes.

I've got a turbo5.3/80e crew cab with 4:10 gears. It'll make your truck feel lighter and responsive from a stop.

whats your turbo specs? And from a dig, what rpm until you’re at full boost? How much boost are you running?

i think I’m going to go buy two cheap used tires, 285/40r17, and have the put on my 17’s to see how the truck reacts to the 4:11 gears! A 26” tire on my setup is right at the same ratio of having 4:11 gears in my rearend.... I’m sure I can go to some hole in the wall used tire place and find a set for $50-$60

To me 5.3 needs at least 4.10, to make the
Fun to drive. I'm thinking bout turbo also, didn't know if 4.10 would help or kill combo, but more I read the more I'm like gear I chosen.

I’ve got a new set of 4:11 gears and a tru-trac, but I’m not sure on going that low of a gear. My tires are 31” OD, oh and I’m running the newer pt88 billet wheel turbo with a .96a/r t4 turbine housing. It lights up pretty quick once going, easily 10psi by 3200rpm from a dead stop...... just really wanting some opinions on what gears some other members are running in their turbo trucks, mostly ones running lower gears and how they act on the street and highway. Thanks!
My truck has 4:10's with an 80e and awd. Run the lower gears. If you are dig racing it doesn't matter. You can always brake spool or use a two step to build boost off the line. And I don't know what else there is for racing other than from a dig. HAHA.

I can build more boost on the line with just the foot brake than I can hold traction for leaving. I also have 32.8" 22" tires. It will just blow them off if I don't leave easy.

What a/r size is the turbine housing on the s480 you’re running, t4 or T6, and what size turbine wheel? How does the PI 3200 converter your running act on the street, under normal “city/traffic” driving?

Reason I ask is because I’m thinking about having my multi disc re-stalled higher. I love how it drives like stock, but I can only foot brake it to around 2200-2400rpm. Just curious how you like the PI converter and how it acts.

I've got a precision 7675cea with 12# of boost. As mentioned you can just brake boost or 2step it from a dig. I wanted 4:10 gears just to help out with how heavy a crew cab is running 31" tires.
