Default Gauges for Radix...

What do i need to make sure my set up is running right when I get my blower.
I'm thinking boost, iat and afr gauges.
what about installation locations,
boost could go on a pillar pod, the other two in the o/head console in one of these http://www.socaldiesel.com/ scroll down to gauges.
Any other suggestions of low profile/stealth type gauge setups. Pics???

boost and iat should be easy, how do you get reading for afr, i've seen reference to getting signal from o2's. Is this accurate enough to depend on.
is there another sensor that could be installed for afr reading?

Thanx Dave

Don't bother with and AFR gauge unless you are running a wideband O2 sensor, you'll be paying a chunk of change for a pretty light show.

Boost and fuel pressure I'd say are most important, followed by tranny temp. Those are the three I am running. I am getting ready to install a wideband O2 sensor with a gauge. Dynotune Nitrous sells an Innovate LC-1 wideband setup with a 2 1/16 gauge that was relatively inexpensive and stand-alone, as well as having an available output for hooking up to a tuning software if you go that route in the future.

Anyway, I'd rate importance as follows:

1. Boost
2. Fuel pressure
3. Tranny temp
4. AFR (if you are going to run the stock Radix tune, I wouldn't waste money on an AFR gauge at all, only if you are going to be custom tuning).
5. I think an IAT gauge might be a waste too unless you are trying to calibrate a meth system. It's interesting to see, but you have no control over it.

I could be wrong, but I don't think egt is an issue with the Radix.

I think that the overhead is kind of awkward to watch while driving. The pillar is closer to your line of sight. Something that mounts on top of the dash over the steering wheel would be better though. I had my gauges sitting on top of the dash while I was waiting for the correct pillar pod to arrive. I noticed that they were very easy to follow without having to look away from the road and refocus. Could be my middle age eyes though.

My most important gauge is the wideband AFR. But I have added several mods and been doing some tuning. My eyes are glued to that gauge after making any changes. The others provide useful diagnostic information if anything does go wrong.

I like the socal diesel setup, and if I add any more gauges (planning to do the aeroforcetech scan gauges at some point) I will be going that route. I have the triple gauge pillar pod right now, and I will be adding my 4th gauge into the empty gauge location in the stock cluster (where the tranny temp gauge goes on some trucks). Gauges 5 and 6 will be in the overhead console.

If you like the socal diesel thing, then get it, just remember that the gauges will be harder to look at, requiring more movement of your eyes from the road. I personally really like my pillar pod, doesn't require much deviation of your eyes to see the gauges.
