4.8T, your truck is a great example for a daily driven turbo setup. You have put alot of miles on yours and love it. Didn't you hurt the motor in yours from running in boost too long though? A supercharged motor like a Magnacharged setup will run in boost when running down the highway with the cruise setup and going up hills. Hell even a Procharged truck will make boost when just going up hills. Remember that a Magnacharged setup that will make 8psi of boost will make 6psi or so of that by 2500rpm and has no problem at all making boost in overdrive at light throttle. This is a problem key when considering boosted applications. You do not want to use boost to do anything other than go fast. Transmissions do not hold up well to using power over gearing. It's better on the trans to downshift than just have the motor push harder. My Tahoe with only a 3.42 gear filled with stuff from moving and 4500lbs of trailer behind it would run just fine down the highway in overdrive. I have video of this in fact. I still ran in 3rd gear as it kept the trans temps much lower and put less stress on the drivetrain. A Duramax will make 600+ft lbs of torque by 1600rpm and keep a trailer moving up most hills, but rather than just pouring fuel to it and adding boost they have it set up to downshift. Parish drove the entire pump gas drags towing a trailer with his turbo'd 408. No doubt the turbo can be a reliable system with full truck uses. Both can. Just look around here though at the guys with turbo's and the guys with Magnachargers. The guys with turbo's tend to work on their trucks considerably more. Without a doubt for power you can't possibly beat the turbo's. Turbo's have so many options with parts avaialble that you can dial the setup in for every part of your combination. I don't think either would be a bad choice for your truck Mike. The Magnacharger has proven itself to be a put it on and forget it system. The turbo systems has proven itself to be the bigger power system that can be worked into a low maintenance system also.
