Are any of you running at atmospheric dump waste gate?

Mines routed back into the down pipe (3") now.

Im thinking about flipping the waste gate around to dump to the ground and block off the down pipe.

I figure it will sound nasty when it opens up and also getting rid of the exhaust right away rather than pushing it into the down pipe might gain me some power.

It wont gain you any power, but if your exhaust is very restrictive it may prevent overboosting. If you arent having boost control issues then the only thing you will gain is noise.

I have a straight through magna flow, but i get about 2psi of spike with the AEM TRUBOOST electronic boost controller at 80% duty cycle (16psi ) spike to 18+.

Is that normal?

A spike might could be solved with adjusting your controller. The only time I would consider needing a bigger downpipe or vent to atmosphere is when the solenoid is 100% open and you are still getting a constant overboost.

unless you want it for noise, i wouldnt do it. but thats just me.

I disagree here... More exhaust = more better IMO

Mine doesn't get much louder when the gates open, but it's already pretty moud

You gotta remember your relieving pressure, not a whole lot of flow.

mine on my STS was stupid loud vented to the atmosphere.

Well... i did it. fabed up a block off plate for the down pipe and gave the gate a spin...

Can you say WWAHAHHHHHHHH

Sounds like a damn drag car with open headers...its ridiculous.
