Default Finned intercooler piping

Was browsing the inter webs this evening and stumble upon this.
They claim it will lower intake temps when installed prior to the intercooler.
Seems like the air won't spend much time in there, so I'm calling it a gimmick.

What do you guys think?

If its less than $20 sure why not it looks cool, but don't expect any performance benefit. In theory it would reject heat easier, but if that's meaningful I have my doubts.

I think it would work for removing heat from a liquid running through the pipe, but not air.

I think prior to the intercooler and post compressor you may see some difference... but you dont have an opportunity to run it post compressor and pre intercooler. Thats for procharger and turbo guys.

Obviously

I was just doing a little theoretical mythbusting.
