Brought my truck in for a 2 bar speed density tune.

04 2wd 5.3l 03 Ls6 cam, 72mm front mount 14psi, aem 320lph with jms boost a pump set at 18 volts, 85lb injectors, 4l80e with shift kit, 850 hp intercooler (rated)

Has plenty of fuel, everything else looks good. He said that 533/547 was the most he could get being on the safe side? That is on 93 octane also. I've seen 600 rwhp with similar setups no problem and still safe tunes.

Thoughts??

Don't think too hard on power numbers. They're often not accurate.

Same dyno with my old 4.8l with a 6.0l cam made 477 on just 12 lbs. I would think Beyer than a 50hp. Gain with a 5.3l with ls6 cam and boost though....

"Safe tune" could have a completely different meaning for some.

Track numbers would tell a better story.

You are over thinking it IMO. Most 5.3s with 14lbs are making around 500 unless they have a good sized cam and head work. Darnie has a similar build with a bigger 220 cam and head work while making 550rwhp/600tq. The LS6 is a super mild cam. Really your numbers are decent. You are a real cam and some decent heads away from 600rwhp. Like others have said don't dwell on the numbers too much. Who knows what iats or humidity might have played a factor on or just the dyno adjustments. Get to the track.

Agreed tracks were its at. im super surprised with my numbers although i set a 600hp goal im currently setting at 600 hp/653 tq on 12.6 lbs truck runs great but im having huge traction issues, so thats on the to do list. truck sounds great man. im running a tr 220 cam, custom heads, and a kbracing turbo kit with a 76mm 1.15 ar cx racing turbo, she spools crazy fast.

Great numbers Darnie, truck sounds like it's a handful.

I'm planning on making the trip to LSFEST and run this year so I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of my setup. I have a devils own water meth kit in the garage I'm going to install and also order a 2.5 bar map and get it re tuned in august at 17 psi before I make the trip to Ky.

In the mean time I'm going to work on launch and traction, I did my machinist internship at Qa1 so will have to give them a call.

My old truck had an 03 5.3 with a bigger cam, 12lbs on a 70/.96, methanol, and pretty strong tune and made 554/557. Your numbers arent off at all, like they said. Track times tell the difference.
