What supercharger are you looking at?

The engine is the same (maybe a different name like LM7 or L33 but that is besides the point) but things like fuel system from return style to returnless is different. The front grille and core support design is different between the 99-02 and 03-07 so the way the intercooler or charge piping is ran is different. The 99-02 is cable throttle body and 03-07 is drive by wire.

So there could be small reasons why they say it's only for the 03-07 if they sell it as a bolt on kit.

Isn't the pre 07 non DOD. that would change the valley cover. I know the 07+non classic is the older motor and the 07-13 is a different motor then l83 DI motor after that.

He’s looking at differences between the 99-02 and the 03-07.

The things mentioned above and the tune would be the biggest thing. The 03-07 will bolt on but you have to change things like EGR and would have to get a custom tune (that’s what you should do anyway). I am putting a 2.3 whipple made for an 08 on my 01 engine. It can be done, just won’t be a bolt on deal.
