Expectations of STS 6.0L

allen ran a 11.99 against me in the ole farmtruc(that run is on sts's web site)...it's a rcsb and not a heavy *** pig like we got...it had a stock 6.0 with stock cam and at 8 10- psi with the 60e tranny....remember when he dynoed 700hp and everyone was watching to see how he was gonna run and his tranny took a dump....

LMAO! Nice, nothin like showing the guy what he COULD have.
Well this is coming from another heavy brother. My truck probably weighs as much or more than yours, i think its about 6800lbs, maybe a little more with the cap on it. Anyway, i have the ~mysterious~ Whipple on mine and i was in the same boat as you after the install. I wanted to hop in and do a 12 second run. I was dissapointed after the install because it would not lift the front wheels off the ground...LOL. Seriously though, it didnt feel like i thought it would, not until i got it properly tuned. I can tell you (like MADBOFO said) shoot for low 14's with that beast and you will be happy. After i got the tune worked out (also by FBC) it really woke it up and ran fantastic, it was a night and day difference. My best time to date is a 14.1 @ 95mph. Thats haulin pretty good for a big *** truck like ours. I agree that you should feel a night and day difference, but ONLY once its properly tuned in and running correctly. Gauges (at least boost and fuel) are a must, then you can work out the rest. Now that I have tuning software, i cant believe i did without it for so long. I would definately look into getting some software and learning how to tweak stuff on your own. Autonomy is wonderful.
a 12 second quarter mile is just not a reality for guys like us unless we really want to sink some money into these things. I am happy with mine, and a low 14 second run is nothing to sneeze at with a big truck.....it will suprise more than a few people. Plus its still enough to whip up on older stock 5.0's...

Two thoughts:
1: There is something wrong. Add no more modifications (except for instrumentation) until it gets fixed. Adding even more performance parts will only complicate troubleshooting and waste money.
2: I also found out the hard way that FI vendors have a habit of overstating performance gains.

Well guys you were right. We hooked up the boost gauge and my heavy *** pig was only blowing 1.5 lbs of boost. My wife can blow harder then that.(Did I just say that, sorry honey.) Anyways the guys down at FBC did some loggs and bumped allens tune 4* more on timming along with cranking out the manual boost control and shizammm. 4.5lbs of boost and man did it feel good. I knew from all the input of you guys and videos here and there this thing had alot more potential then what it was running. From here I'm gonna find a way to get a 5lb spring, (FBC) thinks it has only a 1lb spring and wait for the FMIC from Billy. Once again thanks to all the input everyone had to offer and I will keep posting as I progress on this adventure.

logan214, glad your on your way to happy boost land with the rest of us!
I know how frustrating things can be sometimes, don't listen to all the negative crap, only the real answers with postitive feedback count. You will be happy in the end.
You will need some type of intercooler if you plan on going above 5-6 psi on a regular basis.
You will need an in-line pump for over 5-6psi to keep your pressure up.
You may need to relocate your air cleaner if it did not already come with your STS kit.
Anything else you have questions on I'll do my best to help out.
