engine runs rough after boost
#1
After installing my turbo kit on my 06 sierra denali and working on tune for several hours I make some WOT pulls at 7psi through 2 gears and after 3 pulls the truck is running rough. Like its missing or something...
This has happened twice.
The first time I replaced the spark plugs (found out platinums are a bad thing) and changed plug wires from MSD to Granatelli. Truck ran smooth after this change even though my plugs I pulled looked perfect to me.
The second time (4-15-15) I checked plug wires to see if they came loose. They were good...I went into eat dinner and the truck seemed to run better after dinner...now that it is cooled down I hope to find that it is back to normal but I am hoping someone will shed some light on this...is It me? or something I am doing? or is this normal? (I hope not)...Your input is greatly appreciated as this is my first turbo setup,

Were any of your plug wires burned or touching the headers AT ALL? What is your plug gap? Post a picture of the plugs you took out.
Can you upload the log and tune file?
When you do back to back pulls it may be getting too hot depending how good your intercooler is.

No plug wires are touching at all. I will try to post a log file and add a pic. I haven't quite got a grasp of how to attach images and files. I would be happy to text you spark plug pics if you are at all interested in that. The gap in the spark plugs are .030.

LMAO! NOTHING is as bad as Obama ! I would rather be branded on my nuts than to deal with that joker!
I am new to tuning BUT I am not doing the tuning...I have a qualified tuner doing the work but I am 100 miles from a dynomax and 350 miles from an AWD dyno so we are having to street tune it. There are only about 3 guys in town that know their way around tunes and ls engines and two of them are colaborating. One of them is the hp tuners guy and the other is used to efi live. We are using hptuners for this.
I have eliminated the wires. 2 different sets and same issue.

No offense to your tuner, but there are a lot of hack job so-so "professional" tuners out there that I wouldnt trust with a lawnmowever. Feel free to post at least a log if not a log and a tune (he may not share) on this forum for us to take a look at.

I get your skepticism. He doesn't care who sees the tune nor do i especially if it leads to a fix. I don't know how to post that stuff tho. I will work that out and post it all. Before I do that I need to fix the fuel pressure issue (discussed in another post) and then I will let him finish his work to pOst here. It wouldn't be very cool to post an incomplete tune. I plan on fixing the fuel pressure issue this weekend.

Hey man! Glad to see you're getting going! As for plugs, your gap is good in my opinion for the amount of boost your running. I would recommend running the NGK 3346 plugs which are the BR7EF, or the NGK 3177 plugs which are the NGK BR6EF. Either can be purchases at the parts store for around 2 bucks a plug. As for the plug wires... I'm still running my factory red AC Delco's that came with the truck... 150,000 miles and still going strong!
