Default EGT temps

Just wondering what I should expect for EGT temps with a Radix installed. I have no idea what it was running before the install. I am planning on firing it up tonight for the first time, hope all is well. Does anyone have a good spot to install probe?

My Radix EGTs are almost non-existant, around 850-900.

mine are around 800 to 900 as well driving normal. Mine is located about mid cab. 4' from passenger cat. My cats are gutted, not sure how much that affects temps. Blasted WOT for less than 10 secs it won't go over 1450. Longer than 10 secs...who knows, i am too busy watching the road and my wideband.

I am using autometer #3344, not sure what the diff is but hope it works good. It sounds like all your temps are quite low to what I am expecting to hit. I tow 9000 lbs up long steep hills and I think I may get hot. Hopefully not to hot, hence the guage.

As long as you have a nice open exhaust system your EGT's should stay low.

Do you think that the stock exhaust with upgraded muffler is ok? It is like dual 2.5 or 2.75 back to muffler and then single 3.5 tail.

I'm building one of these, so hopefully towing wont be an issue
http://www.rcdon.com/html/gr-1_turbo...e_project.html
jet engine built out of a turbocharger, blows air from the compressor side into a combustion chamber where propane is injected and as it ignites it is blow into the inlet of the exhaust side......mmmmm thrust

Default Need Help Quickly

I just finished the test drive of my brand new radix. Everything seems to be working very good. I am getting about 5 PSI max. Yes it is set up for towing mostly. I was expecting more but am not unimpressed by any means. Hope it tows as good as I am expecting. The question is what should my EGT get too? It was at 1500 and it is evening here, very cool evening actually, and the truck is empty going up a decent hill but not the biggest it will see when towing. Is 1500 too hot?? It is about 950 when driving in town with very little stopping at lights and just putting around. I am planning on leaving on a little holiday tomorrow am and do not want the EGT's to melt stuff, thats bad. I don't think the truck is running any hotter than pre-radix, I just have no idea what the EGT's were before it was installed. I hope someone can help me.

Oh yeah, the Autometer guage is brand new but I am questioning it. In the instructions it says do not alter the wiring to the probe, but there was two lengths of wires in the box, both same length. I called Autometer and they said just use one of the wires, dont shorten or lengthen, must have been double packaged. So thats what I did and am now wondering if I should trust the guage.

Probe is in left side bank, about 6-8" after the manifold to pipe flange.

Thanks for everyones help.
