Edelbrock E-Force supercharger kits now for '03-11 GMFS

Just unveiled at 2011 SEMA, Edelbrock now has kits for the '03-11 GMT800 and 900.

Even though TVS S/C's have long been available from other vendors for these models, more options is never a bad thing, in terms of price and consumer selection.

I'm curious to see how these compare to the more common Magnacharger kits, specifically with respect to IAT and torque curves. What has been seen with these E-Force kits on Camaro/Corvette applications is more low- and mid-range torque because of the longer runner design since the kit moves the intercooler to the top of the case, opening up room below for the longer runners.

So if nothing else it'll be interesting to see how these compare with other kits on the market.

Pretty much the same thing that is on the LS9 and LSA engines.

CC05 11-02-2011 10:19 PM

I've got a guy that lives a few miles from me who has one on his C6. They're cool and all for vehicles (like Corvettes) where you can't fit a normal supercharger without an aftermarket hood, but on a Silverado...kind of blah, IMO. I'd give one a try for a big discount, though.

Basically yeah, both have the inverted case. I wonder if there's any difference between the plenum volume, runner volume (and length) and intercooler size between the two...

that's badass!

Atomic 11-02-2011 11:47 PM

I like it!

Pretty clean. Competition always raises the bar for everyone.

How do the Edelbrocks compare head-to-head with the Maggy 2300?

Rick

I like what you're doing over there :naughty:

Sierra1320 11-03-2011 07:43 AM

I was wondering when they were going to come out with these...

TrickTurbo 11-03-2011 12:54 PM

Looks like a cowl hood on top of the engine.
Brian will show the difference he has tons of time on the maggie stuff pretty sure he still has all that data.

What's your take on the longer runner length and possible differences in IATs with the intercooler on top versus below? I would think the below design would be more prone to heatsink over repeated runs but would this prove true in testing?

black00chev 11-03-2011 08:59 PM

There obviously is a lot of heat soak into the intercooler with the top mount blower. Think about Supersubs phenolic spacer and how much it helped out with that problem. I could see these having an issue too being that the roots are sitting right in the valley of the engine and is probably soaking up that heat as well.

I wonder what the differences are between this blower and the one on the LS9?

1Bear 11-03-2011 10:26 PM

Looks like it may be somewhat easier, packaging speaking to install a larger intercooler core given you don’t run into cowl clearance issues. Somewhat akin to what Lingenfelter has done on their LS9 package.

fortplainman 11-03-2011 10:35 PM

wonder how the prices are gona compare to a tvs. glad to see another "made in USA" product hit the market.

jrmchevyman 11-03-2011 11:44 PM

Looks nice and interesting. I'd like to see more about it too. Don't plan on it being cheaper pricing compared to other companies out there. They have always been a little more expensive than other companies on certain categories. Their small block engines for example are kinda pricy compared to "others". Made in the USA is good though.

TIM Z 11-04-2011 04:38 AM

That looks 10Xs better than the camaro kit. Thumbs up Edelbrock!

That bieng said when i pop the hood of a vehicle that is blown i like to see the compressor housing. That is one key element for most who buy forced induction, They want the power and the coolness factor of " popping the hood" and showing off what they just spent 5+ Grand on .

blown02408 11-04-2011 05:14 AM

My back hurts just looking at that thing.

BlownChevy 11-04-2011 05:27 PM

First impression: This is a nice system, very complete and well made. I plan on testing once they have the cathedral port manifold available so we can see some true comparison numbers.

Check out the pictures on our FB page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Super...09811932412878

there will be more photos coming!

silver-mod-o 11-04-2011 05:40 PM

It's advertised for 99+ trucks and they don't have a cathedral port version yet...

What am I missing here.

you are missing the fact that they are advertising something without having product ready to ship! :jest:

silver-mod-o 11-04-2011 09:57 PM

I see said the blind man!!

Three6GMC 11-04-2011 10:06 PM

It looks badass but also kinda ugly at the same time lol if that makes sence???

black00chev 11-04-2011 10:33 PM

After looking at this again the top of the intercooler reminds me of the aliens from Independance Day :jest:

Sierra1320 11-05-2011 05:49 PM

That's Awesome haha

old motorhead 11-05-2011 09:36 PM

They're OK on stock type builds. Maybe a little better than the Maggie with low end power advantages because of the longer runners. Once you get past the low end builds, the long runners on the intake mani become a restriction.

Maggies and GM's blowers (ZR1 and LSA) get to max boost quick and maintain to red line (boost doesn't go up much past 3000 rpm). On higher end builds, the EForce gets to boost quick also, yet continues to build boost as RPM rises. The extra EForce boost you see above 3000 rpm is simply a restrcition because of the intake runners. Compared to a Maggie or GM TVS, HP is down, boost is up, and IAT's are up.

The EForce has its place. As long as you have no inclination to push things a bit, they're fine. If you have visions of bigger power, there are better options.

silver-mod-o 11-05-2011 09:53 PM

Very well put

Are they using the same displacement head unit on everything from a 4.8, to a 6.2???

I haven't heard of anything but the 2300.....I don't listen very close though. To me, if you don't have the need for the low profile (vette owner), there's no reason to consider it.

Vortec350ss 11-06-2011 11:56 PM

I think it looks cool and I'm happy to see a little innovation in the standard roots type blower design. Change is good!!!

99SLOWC5 11-10-2011 10:55 AM

We've been callin edelbrock daily to try and get two 6.0/6.2 tuner kits. I'm removing my VVT cam this weekend to get the truck ready for the kit. My business partner has a tvs1900. So it will be an easy comparision. Same trucks. Same Dyno. Same tuner. Different blowers

timg 01-26-2012 02:44 PM

Just today I was told that these kits are still in development and there's no ETA or price yet.

Tim

BlownChevy 01-26-2012 03:18 PM

I made the same call! Still no ETA :(

NemeSS 01-26-2012 03:18 PM

Looks like it comes with its own lil cowl hood :D

Preston129 04-16-2012 05:22 PM

Edelbrock updated their product page, coming early next month apparently:

fortplainman 05-28-2012 11:35 PM

looks sweet! pretty good numbers too.

CI DENALI 05-29-2012 09:33 PM

Hmmmn, wonder what kind of power it would make on a 6.2 with a LS9 cam and headers?
I may just have to buy me one and find out for myself...

Does their power train warranty cover transmissions??
