Default Duramax Intercooler

Has anyone seen a duramax intercooler used in a 1500? I know it could handle the little bit of boost us gas turbos throw at it BUT would it bolt right in? Currently I have an intercooled front mount turbo from trick but since my truck is lowered it scrubs the ground sometimes. And I like the fact that it would be a factory style setup. I'm about to change my setup and I'm considering many different options including getting out of the turbo game. Thanks

After looking a little bit I found that Banks is really proud of their intercoolers.. They start at over a grand!

It can be done, but it is a huge headache and that intercooler is set up for HI boost hi flow, not low boost hi flow. Might think about going air to water, you can get into a kit pretty reasonable and not worry about the ground clearance stuff.
just a thought.

it will work but it has to be cut down 2" to fit. its not gonna be easy unless you can weld aluminum.

01 to 05 Dmax intercoolers are smaller in width compared to the 06 and up, maybe an 01 to 05 could be adapted easier.

Whippled 496 tried it. Here's some reading.

Whipple had a 2500. Tottally different frame work. It's not the width it's the hieght. I've done it this isn't somethng I read it's somethng I did. The 04 cooler I got was all aluminum. I cut it down (tall wise) and slipped it right in and cut two feet holes in the bottom of the rad support. Then squeezed the 32" factory (for 1500) rad in between the ends. Then made brackets for the stock Efans. The truck never ran hot it stayed the same as before. Before I got to use the damn thing my truck caught fire going down the interstate and that ended that . If you can find a deisel performance shop they throw those things away. But the newer ones have plastic end caps so you can't cut them the same as the all aluminum ones.
