DTC's after yanking whipple electronics
#1
Just finally got done a little bit ago with pulling all of the whipple craptronics out. I started it up and it started really rough and was blowing a ton of black smoke out of the tailpipe. One of the lights on the dash came on so I scanned the DTC's and this is what came up:
Diagnostic Trouble Codes
P0118 "Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit High" EPA ($10) "Powertrain Control Module (PCM)"
P0118 "Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit High" EPA Pending ($10) "Powertrain Control Module (PCM)"
P0118 "Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Circuit High" MPHC ($10) "Powertrain Control Module (PCM)"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($40) "Body Control Module (BCM) or Dash Integration Module (DIM)"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($58) "Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM)"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($60) "Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($98) "HVAC Control Module"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($A0) "Driver Door Module (DDM)"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($A1) "Front Passenger Door Module (FPDM)"
U1000 "Class 2 Data Link" H ($A6) "Driver Seat Module (DSM)"
Any ideas?

wow, that's very strange. I dont see how any of those would be related in any way to how the truck runs aside from possibly the coolant if your t-stat had gone out at the same time and your truck overheated.... but highly unlikely. Nor can i understand how the whille electronics would affect any of those systems...
possibly try starting the truck a few times to see if any codes get thrown (some codes such as the ones related to your cats take a few throws to turn on the mil).

Did you change the tune in the PCM for the 43# injectors? If not it is running really rich and that might explain the rough running and black smoke out the exhaust.
Not sure about the codes your getting but maybe you need to check your wiring from removing the whippletronics and ensure all the connections are good and back to stock.

I agree 100%...
Same issue I had when I did mine-I started it just to see how rich it would be
with the new injectors.
You have to scale the injectors.
And recheck all your ecm wires and connections for the codes

did you possibly hit the Engine Coolant Temp Sender? it's right there in the driver side head toward the front, like behind the red battery jumper box. Don't worry about the other body codes unless those items aren't working (A/C works, power windows work, etc)

Thanks for the replys. I'm gonna go over all the connections again and make sure they are all secure and attached. The 43lb injectors were already in there and the tune was already set for them. We'll see what happens.

Okay, I got the p0118 cleared up. It was a bad solder. Now everything seems to be running okay except for the fact the scan says that it cannot retrieve any O2 sensor results. I went and checked everything again and everything is connected. I don't know where to even start now.

Oh- BTW it looks like the O2 are reading because I'm seeing normal voltage fluctuations on the scan.
