DIY turbo: tuning
#11
who is doing your tuning? for simplistics measures, your tuner will set you up to handle (read as properly fuel) the boost via 1 bar, keeping the MAF. If it isn't a HUGE deal, just wait to drive until you are properly tuned for the boost.
the 2bar, not for 5psi IMO, but the whole deal is 1bar can't see boost, so you are relying on the maf to properly fuel the boost, not the ve table(so much). Lots of experience with 5psi and 1bar these days. You'll be fine if you are in the right (read as experienced) FI tuning hands.

don't apologize! it's all good! 2 bar is good stuff in my opinion, just nothing you want to get into unless you do understand at least the basics of tuning. Quiet the task to tune it. Not as in bad, just can be frustrating.

anyone know of any freeware programs i can use? the guy thats doing my tuning is an import tuner but does not have any software for gm vehicles
what values need to be changed?
I can't find anyone locally that can tune gm vehicles and i cant spend $700 for a program at the moment.

The GM computer is a tough nut to crack and the few guys that have done it, deserve to get paid for the hundreds of hours they have spent doing it. Where are you located? There my be someone around there with EFILive or HPT, that could help you out.
$700 buck is a LOT cheaper then a blown motor cus you couldn't "afford" tuning software. If your really on a budget, (and no one running FI should be, lol) get a hold of Jesse at Wait4me Performance, He can hook you up with a conservative mail order tune that will get you going for about $160. Tuning is really the most important part of a FI setup!

hah ya the budget wasnt a problem until recently deciding to go back to school, I'm in vancouver, canada dont know of anyone around here with HP tuner or EFI, would be nice if i did! looks like i might have to do mail order
I have everything in its place ready for the turbo to be welded in and then just hooking up the wires to the oil pump and oil lines, maybe an hours work left lol dying to get this thing in looks like ill have to wait for the tune
i'll snap some pictures of what i've done so far tomorrow
