DIY Rear Mount Turbo for CA?
#1
Anyone built their own rear-mount turbo system that is CA smog compliant? I know STS kits are CARB legal, but I feel that I have the fabrication skills and know-how to build my own kit at less cost. Furthermore, I believe it is possible for such a kit, if built correctly, to be passed off as an actual STS kit come smog time. This is my daily driver and would prefer to not have to deal with swapping out parts when it's time to smog. Even though it's only every 2 years it's still a PITA and I don't always have the time to do it.

I think it's either that, or they can look up the part number in the carb certification database. I have other parts on my truck that don't have carb numbers on them and they don't care. I guess it really depends on the place you go to whether or not they are gonna get **** with the inspection.
