Ok so some of you know my truck its a ext cab with a 6.0 and a few other goodies...
If you were going to build your own turbo kit! Keeping cost in mind(sorta a budget turbo daily driver build) would you do....
A) A front mount with all the necessary hardware and little more expensive.
or
B) A sts replica mid-mount that is a little cheaper and easier to fabricate by myself?
This is not a speedy race truck I just want a little more towing and performance power and don't wanna get beat by a stock lightning! What is my best bet to go with? Keep in mind this will be done a little at a time all built from a parts list and scratch!

that is what im saying i have the necessary tools parts and equipment to mock a sts kit and yes the piping for a remote mount would cost a ton less that 1600 bucks for 1600 i can have most all of the remote mount built minus the intercooler and bov. That would be hot side and cold side! There are benifits to each the kb keeps the cold parts to a minimum but i would have to run a front mount intercooler more pipe..... on the remote i can run a air to water where my current intake sits and sill use the same amout if not less that with out the intercooler. I have been lookin and I think the cheaper is to build myself the remote mount because lag is not an issue and it will be cheaper...due to no manifold or downpipe(ie most expensive parts besides the turbo itself)

If you build your own, don't be surprised at how quickly the nickel and dime stuff adds up (doesn't matter if it's front mount, rear mount, mid mount, etc etc). Aside from the piping, you'll still need an intercooler, wastegate, blowoff valve, clamps, couplers, oil feed line and fittings, oil drain lines, vacuum lines, oil return pump, boost controller, some kind of exhaust post-turbo, etc etc. When my roommate (64CAMINO) did his turbo kit he got all of the basics installed in a day, but ended up spending the next two weeks piecing together the rest of the little stuff. Mine was the same way when I first did it.

sorry misunderstood no not a complete kit just the piping part. the kb hot parts is 1600. I can do the remote mount kit with hot and cold and prolly get the turbo with the same amount of money and even consider the intercooler! Sorry for the confusion.....1600 wont buy the turbo and intercooler much less the bov and wastegate and the hoses and clamps!

I'd just get one of Kyles logs and start there... you dont want a mid or rear mount, I dont care how much Nonnie's trying to talk you in to it
Ive got a ton of pics of my cold side and how its routed, plus youve seen it yourself. It wouldnt be hard to replicate with some time and the right tools. just my two pennies...

i have already got a pump and some of the fittings and hoses for oil return and also have the after turbo cutout and magnaflow exhaust! I have been working towards the FI for a while that is why i went with the smaller cam(z06) and no longtubes because of all that i have read! but my major delimia is not purchasing all the parts at once just buying a little here and there till I have a kit ready to install then i won't be waiting on this or that to come in!
