Default Daily Driver/Towing Rig - SC/FI OK???

My DD is a 2500 Crew 2X4 with the 6.0L, 4L80 transmission, and 4.10 gears. I drive it daily and tow about two times a month usually between 3K-5K pounds. I need to be able to drive anywhere at anytime if that makes a difference. Considered cam and heads but don't want to rule out FI. Reliability and drivability is key. I currently have an Outlaw CAI, Dynatech LT headers, Hi-Flo cats, Corsa Touring, and 160 stat along with PCM tune and the truck runs great and much better than it was stock. By adding a Radix for example, could I be adding a mod that would hurt the DD or towing situation or should I stay with my plans of heads and cam? Is there anything about adding a Radix for example that causes drivability concerns in either really hot or cold climates? I am wanting to help the low end torque to help get this big unit moving but not sure if the Radix would be a plus vs. a cam/head swap. Budget is also a concern as I could not go more than $3000 max which would mean a used Radix or other FI component if that is even possible. As everyone here, speed/HP would be great as long as it fits the DD/tow requirements.

Radix would be great for DD and towing. I've run a Radix on my DD for the past 3 or 4 years and been 100% happy. You won't hurt that 4L80E. For a DD I'd definitely recommend Radix over H/C.

Cool

I don't think a heads/cam package is going to achieve your goals. I have never done one but from what I have read the HC will raise your power band not lower it. The HC will improve breathing which is effective at higher rpm ranges and will probably actually hurt your lower end performance. The addition of a radix will probably be the most meaningful way to achieve your goals. Your $3000 budget may be do-able with a used radix but not really very realistic.

Agree with the others on the Radix. It just flat gets it done down low. You can add a little more cam and still have more low end than you have now. Mid range and top end will be infinitely better. Not much down side other than $. Your tranny ought to hold up unless you go ape **** with the cam, smaller pulley, and open exhaust.

Thanks for all of the replies. One more question for future planning purposes...Would it be better to wait and save the funds and add a Radix along with a cam at the same time or by just changing the cam on a FI engine not make the impact as compared to a a NA engine. ALong those same lines, if I were to change the heads to say a performace style Patriot LS6 head does it make the same impact in horsepower gains as a NA engine would? Sorry for the dumb questions as I just don't have any experience with FI engines. The reason I ask is after searching this forum and looking at posts regarding FI applications some have commented that when you go to a supercharger or turbo that SOME mods (cams/LT headers/heads/etc.) don't have quite the impact as compared to a NA engine. Make sense? So if I were to wait a while and save up funds for one more add on mod in additon to the super charger would it be a cam, heads, or something else?

Cam and exhaust would be great complementing mods, but you don't have to do those first or at the same time. I would honestly get a Radix first, then once you get it in and running right and get used to it, then I would go further if you think you want to. Don't bite off too much at the same time.
