cheap turbo bulid

Hot pipes are just exhaust pipes.
You need exhaust running from both manifolds into the turbo, and exhaust is hot. Either people buy already made kits or they custom fab their own pipes.
Then you have cold pipes if you want to run a intercooler.

If you really want a used turbo from a junkyard, i would also recommend one from a cummins, but since they are diesel stuff you will definately need two of those. If heard diesel turbos are good for only half the liters on a gasoline engine. Lets say the turbo is from a 5.9, so on a gasoline it would be a 2.95 liters. So you need two of turbos for a 5.3 or a 6.0. But i recommend and think the cheapest way would be a on 3 performance turbo. They are really cheap and great quality. You could also buy a turbo kit from them. They are around 2k and thats the piping, turbo, ic, wg, bov, and everything you need to bolt it just on. I think the only thing left to do would be injectors, fuel pump and some tuning.
