Can someone explain what is involved in changing to a MAP setup?

I am interested in doing away with the MAF and going MAP instead for my STS equiped 2003 Silverado. What is involved? Just dump the maf, put in another type of sensor (Map) then get a tune for it? What does this sort of change cost?
Thanks in advance guys..

I'm assuming you're talking about going to a 2-bar MAP sensor and an open loop speed density tune?
If so, there are some MAF codes you have to change, and you'll have to load in a custom operating system with a boost VE table. You'll also have to replace the stock 1-bar MAP sensor with a 2-bar, and calibrate it in the tune. EFILive has step-by-step instructions on how to do it, and I'm sure HPT also has them.
If you're going this route, you will need to invest in a wideband as well since you won't be using the PCM's fuel trims to adjust the AFR's.

50 for the software, assuming you have hptuners.
And around 50 for the map sensor.
You can pull the maf completely, but you will need to re-wire a IAT sensor. or you can just tune off the maf Like you would for v.e tunning.
Are you tunning it, or someone else?
How much boost? and why do you want to dump the maf?

EFILive 2 bar tuning is free with a standard license.

Sorry, should give a little more info.. I have a 2001 Silverado with an STS equiped 5.3L running around 6psi of boost. I've also just got a 2003 1500HD with a 6.0L and only 10k miles on it
My buddy is getting the 2001 off me, and I am currently installing an STS on my 2003 (almost finished). I have not got any tunning or a diablo yet for my '03. The problem is with water getting on my MAF during heavy rain or moisture when it is cold out. Now before you ask, I have tried the snorkel tucked way up into the fender, and cleaned + scotchguarded the sock, and even blocked off all below the cavity on the fender to isolate the air cleaner, but I still eventually got water on the MAF making the truck undrivable till I cleaned it and dried it out. I even moved the air cleaner to a diff location and boxed it in completely, but it STILL gets water on the MAF when it is cold + rainy out here in the northwest. So I am beginning to think the intercooler is condensing the water out of the atmosphere just before the MAF so that when in boost, it gets shoved back up the pipe to the MAF.
We are thinking of moving the intake to the engine compartment, or blocking off the intercooler or just simply moving over to the MAP setup. What you guys think? So on the 2001 we need a solution, it is just tuned using the diablo, but the '03 has no tune selected yet nor any guages. So either way on the '03 I need to drop some $cash on a tune. I am not upposed to getting EFILIVE or HPtuners, but I have NO clue what to do with them heheh.. I really dont want to mess around much once the truck is tuned, so I guess if someone could help me set it up, then once gtg leave it alone, that would be ok. Or I could get some Nelson action going for some tuning too..

It's not the amount your probly thinking. It just no matter how hard it rains outside or how slushy it is in the winter, it is just a couple drops on the MAF that puts it out. usualy a tiny puddle lying on the pipe floor before the MAF.

No, not at all. Hey if anyone has any suggestions on eliminating the water on the MAF, I'm all ears. Short of putting a camera in the pipe near the MAF, I just do not know what to do to see how it is forming.
