Default cam question

Im wanting to buy my next mod this coming week, and its looking like a gt2-3
Can i get away with my stock verter? if i have to get one would a tt2600 be enough? also i did a search on this but did not get the answer i wanted. I also read someone ran into valve float with the ls6 springs with this cam. Sorry for all the questions, just want to do it right the first time

put atleast a 918 spring on it. You are boosting the motor which means good pressure behind the valves.

Dont worry about too high of a convertor, you make enough mid band and low end to get you going. I would go nothing more than a 3K stall if you plan on drag racing. If not, then stick with a stock stall or maybe around a 2600 stall. You will like how that drives better.

Well proven cam with the Radix. Stock converter might be fine for a while. Definately do a good set of springs and rods.

The later Zo6 cam has about the same specs as the GT2-3. If you want something that mild, you can pick up the zo6 cams for next to nothing. You can get them for exactly nothing if you're near a shop that does a lot of work on vettes. They throw them in the dumpster all the time. If I were going to all the trouble to change the cam, I'd go bigger. I used the cam in my sig in my 5.3L with a stock converter and it worked fine. Mean idle and the radix will pump up the low and mid range of a bigger cam. Still gets descent mileage when I can keep my foot out of it.
