A/C Line blew up
#1
Just wanted to post this up so if people are wondering about the clearance between the ac line and turbo on the 07-13 trucks. I have a 2011 5.3l and has the rubber return ac line that runs by the turbo housing. Lines were wrapped in DEI heat shielding and the turbo had a cheapo ebay turbo cover (was waiting for my Heatshield Prod one).
anyway the cheapo ebay turbo blanket did a **** job of keeping the heat in. It made the ac line so hot that it bubbled and blew apart.
Ill throw up some pics later today.

If you buy these Denso 10S17F & 10S20F Compressor Adapter Fittings - (2) Low Side #10 Fittings | eBay then you can make your own line. Aeroquip makes braided stainless AC lines and fittings. With those fittings, and a pair of the Aeroquip -10 fittings, and 3 feet of line, you can make something that clears nicely. I went with a 45 and a 90 for my hose ends. Clears my Trick T6 twin scroll and S484 by a mile now. I don't have the truck running yet, but it's so far away I know there will be no heat issue.
For what it's worth, if you've blown up a line, you should get a new dryer/accumulator. It's really cheap, and once it's been open to the elements it gets a lot of moisture in it. Get a new one and install it right before you install the new line, and have your system vacuumed before it's re-charged.

damn, good stuff. I may just do that on future problems or builds. I ended up getting a factory replacement. put some heatshield prod silver wrap on it, then I double wrapped in Titanium wrap. notched my battery tray and it now has about an inch of clearance. so better than it was.

On mine I made an aluminum heat sheild and applied a dei heat sheild sheet to it and didn’t have a problem all summer, my dual 16” spal fans also push enough air to cool down the lines so they aren’t hot to the touch. I do like this custom ac line idea...
