Default which BOV to buy for my Livernois kit?

I've been trying to find some information on BOVs through many forums online and I've really came across very little. First question, which flange should I buy, aluminum or stainless steel. Of course aluminum welds to alum and steel welds to steel but that leads to my next question. Where exactly does the BOV mount?

Last question, is just a generic tial 50 mm BOV good or should I go with another brand/style. I see some guys on this forum have went with the synapse bov. I'm ignorant with all this turbo stuff so any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jake

the low cost generic BOV is just fine to run...this is similar to what i have..i got extra spring with mine so it stays closed at idle vac and opens at 17# vac after wot boost. install it anywhere before the throttle body and the intercooler...

If you are running a MAF install the BOV in the intake tubing before the MAF. I think 17# Vac is too low. If you are at sea level or near it try an -11 lb spring = 22# Vac. My truck idles at ~ -9 psi = 18# Vac and the BOV might be open at idle letting unfiltered air into the intake. My truck sees -12 psi + = 24.5 #Vac + on heavy decelleration when you want the BOV to open. That is my take on it FWIW.

Is the intake tubing with this kit aluminum or steel? When you say: "try an -11 lb spring = 22# Vac", are you saying buy a bov with an 11 lb spring? Wasnt getting the - part thats why im clarrifying.

Lol 2tone u did answer the questions, well most of them but the last pm I sent you was clarifying where the bov mounted to make sure I need the aluminum flange because I want to order it asap so I wont be behind on my install waiting for the bov to come in. Figured id make the post to see if I could get an immediate answer. Thanks again for answering all my dam questions 2tone. Is the intake pipe on the livernois kits aluminum?

When I talked to a guy at livernois about getting a bov he laughed and said I dont need it unless I run 30 lbs of boost then went on to say if I want to waste my money then the "mechanic" said the stainless one will do fine but its a waste with my low boost 10 lb application.

I have the same front mount kit. I would say do a BOV. I cant say that not having a BOV is what messed up my inlet fins but it probley didnt help it. I put my BOV right after the Intercooler on the drivers side.
