boosting over 100k...
Tryin to get some ideas of what kind of cost I may be looking at if I do go FI. My 5.3 is almost to 160k now, any reccomendations of what would need to be done (engine wise) to handle up to 10lbs? I know tranny and rear will need some beefing and fuel system to support. The truck has felt a little sluggish down low lately and im thinking maybe its gettin tired out.
thanks.
thanks.

You already answered your own question. FI is tough on perfectectly running engines. Drop in a used, low mile 5.3l or 6.0l and then start the FI stuff.

motors dont know mileage they know abuse. I wouldnt be afraid of boosting a motor with high miles as long as it checks out fine
as for little low on compression what do you think boost likes? do as the honda guys less compression more boost till it lets go

Like said, do a comp test, I have seen a 6.0 with 183k that you could still see very slight crosshatching in the cylinder walls still, but have seen a 5.3 with less than 100k with a ton of blowby. If your motor checks out ok, go ahead and throw 7-8 psi at it and i bet it will last a long time. A buddy of mine has had a procharger on his 5.3 since it had 6k on it, now has over 200k hard miles and still runs well.
