Default Boosted 4.8 LS

Hello all, I have a 2000 regular cab short bed 4x4 Silverado with the 4.8, currently have long tubes and a tune on it. I heard the 4.8s love boost, I’ve been looking at the torquestorm supercharger kit recently and wanted to dig deeper into it. Is it really worth it? I just wanted to get a little more information on it with a 4.8/5.3, and some reviews. The truck is my daily driver, I want a little more power to have some fun.

A supercharger like the TorqueStorm kit on a 4.8/5.3 can be worth it if your goal is a noticeable bump in power without going full race build, but it’s important to set expectations for a daily driver. The 4.8 and 5.3 engines respond well to forced induction because they’re pretty strong internally, but they also run fairly low compression compared to LS engines, so the gains aren’t as dramatic as on something built for boost from the factory. People who run TorqueStorm (or similar kits) on these trucks generally see smoother throttle response, better mid‑range punch, and more usable power for highway passing and towing — exactly the kind of improvement that feels fun without being overly aggressive.
