Default Boost Creep

Hi any input would be great I am having a tough time with boost creep under light throttle up long hills.I have seen it rise to as much as 19psi when i have it set at 8psi the waste gate is opening fully and this is on an sts 60-1 ,fmic ,Tial 50mm blow off valve ,5.3 Aalanche.

Thanks Brad

there is NO way you have hose hooked up the wastegate.. or is not working... IF you Hook up the "vacume" side to ported vac you can still gain a little boost creep.. 1-3psi... boost creep isnt 15+psi ! .... I dont even know how you could fuel it at that pressure !.. mine made 14psi and it laid over pretty quick... 5more psi would be a melt down ...

I did't think a 60-1 could come close to 19 PSI.
Are you using a boost controller?
What are you reading the pressure with?
Do you have another way to read boost to compare?

You have an A/F ratio gauge? What was it reading at 19 psi? If it was reading stoich or rich then I'd say your boost gauge is the problem but if you were running lean I'd say your 60-1 is working it's *** off!!
How did the truck ride at 19 psi? Mine spiked up to that at one point and my truck felt pretty slow due to other limiting factors and what not, oh and my head gasket blew so seeing that yours didn't i would blame it one a faulty or incorrect boost gauge.

Mine used to boost creep up to 17-22 psi when my nitrous was activated. Then I blew a head gasket. It never did after I pulled the 4.8 and installed the 5.3. You sure the waste gate is opening up? I ran the boost reference hose from the intake back so the waste gate sees actual manifold pressure.

Default boost creep

I installed a Cam/Springs in my 90K 5.3 lasted 100 miles !!!!!!! Before i installed the springs. I only could see 10psi.. and creep 13... but nothing more... the more i drove it the worse... removed the wastegate and installed a new spring reset for 14psi base... NADA.. 10psi all it would do... on the dyno it all went flat.... installed springs/cam didnt adjust a thing.. 14psi !! I dont see how a 60-1 can keep up with 20psi... I was still working threw a retune so i backed it down to 7psi for first 400miles....

What intercooler you running? If its one of those ebay knockoffs it may be a restriction. Not all them are bad, but some aren't worth the aluminum there made out of. Check your boost before and after intercooler. My turbo would make 17-20 easy. Untill today, the journal bearings went out and it blew oil all over the place.

Yep.. I have an ebay junk one... I dont think its that bad.. I can drive around and my IAT are never 10 degrees above outside air... and I live in texas... under alot of boosted miles today it was only as high as 110 that was only because i was sitting in a parking log messing with the Laptop... No meth on the truck yet ... but soon !...

Not all of them are bad. They can cool the air but some cause a restriction. The ones that look like the ones procharger sell are good. You want a lot tubes. For instance if the core is 30X12 you would want the tubes to run up and down with the end tanks on the top and bottom. That way you would have twice as many tubes giving less restriction. If the tubes run side to side and the tanks are on the ends all that air has to go through half as many tubes. Less tubes equals boost drop.
