I was reading on an F-Body board in a thread were a guy was entertaining the idea of swapping his 305 or 350 (I don't remember which) TPI for a 4.8.
Of course there were a ton of guys saying "go 5.3 or 6.0" but then I read this:
"The 4.8L has a rod ratio of 1.92. And it sports 12 degrees of piston dwell time. Meaning? The engine will respond better to boost than a 5.3 or 6.0 or ANY other LS series engine."
Is this statement true, and what exactly does he mean by respond to boost?

I've talked to my bro wit his lt1 96 sierra wit a t4 turbo on it and we've ran 13s flat wit it at rocky mountain raceway and my bros friend ran a turbonetics kit on his 5.3 2005 chevy and it ran wit us all day on 15lbs of boost! But I've never heard of anybody boosting. A 6.0! I've got a 2000 seirra wit a 6.0 and idk what turbo to run I wanna run 8-20 lbs of boost so if any has got a idea hit me up! And I don't wanna run a sts cause I dri ve it daily! And I live where it snows a ton !

An old friend of mine was running a procharger @ 7lbs on his SSS w/stock heads and pistons, I thought it was pretty damn quick but I have no idea what it ran.
I think I know what the last part of my original question means...basically a 4.8 will yield more power (pound for pound) on equal boost than that of a 5.3, 6.0, etc, etc...can anyone confirm or deny? In other words if a 4.8 gains 100rwhp @ 7lbs others may only see 70 or 80...

I ran 11.0@125mph 1.7x 60' with the 4.8 with a 220 cam stock heads and bolts. Truck weights 4200, the f-body will be lighter and with a great 60' low 10s are more than possible

Your theroy is right the only problem is you got to spin um up pretty high to get the power. Now what im saying is only relative when comparing equally equipped larger ci ls motors with a shorter rod to stroke ratio.I believe there's a chance you could get more all out power from a 4.8l though thats why i stuck with one.One things for sure the bar is set pretty high when it comes to ringing power out of a stock engine be it a 4.8,5.3,5.7,6.0 you really cant go wrong if the tunings on par.
