Default Blower ? for you Chevy guys..

Allright, my roomies 355 project for his 91 Sonoma is well underway at this point. Unfortunately, he's developed a liking for the insesant whine that comes from under my hood, and is now seeking a blower to sit atop his small block. He's asked me and I can't give him an answer, so I'm turning to you guys hoping maybe one of you can. Here we go....

1) It is a carbed motor. What kind of options are out there for roots-style blowers?

2)Would it be easier to find a roots style, or just grab a Procharger for it? On the same note, which is the cheaper option?

3)Or, should he just do as I suggested, and slap a set of Vortec heads and intake on that bad boy and drop a Radix on top of that?

Keep in mind, he's on a budget and would prefer to buy used if possible, but is willing to pay what it takes to get what he wants with this project. TIA for any input you guys have.

Rob

I think B&M makes a blower setup for that type of thing. Let me check some stuff out.

*edit*

Not B&M I guess but, here are some.

vortech makes a supercharger system that comes with a carb hat.

what it is, is a box unit to hold pressure for motors that use a carb instead of fuel injection.
it is not a bad kit, easy to do, and he would only have to change around a few things instead of replacing parts to run it.

Now that I think about it. Blownchevy posted a thread in here a while back about this setup.

I would go with Weiand or a Radix. The only reason I say that is that carbs for blow through(centrifugal) applications can get pricey, unless you plan on spending big cash on a carb anyway. Plus there is always the cool factor of a positive displacement blower with a carb under the hood.

They are a ton of root's blowers, weiand, bm, eaton, bds, blower shop, mooneyham, etc. I would go roots on a carbed setup but thats me. They are making good power with the centri's also. If he isn't worried about **** sticking out of the hood Go with the roots. just my .02
