Default Blower heat exchangers

Im almost a noobie to FI...have 99%to of the parts...just not installed. I bought a tru-cool trans cooler in hopes my 4L60 will last a week or two...and started thinking...can I use a tru-cool as my heat exchanger? Air to liquid still...seems logical to buy 2 but looking for info.

I'm not positive that it wouldn't work, but I doubt that it would work well. They are designed for a different task entirely, at a completely different flow rate and PSI rating.

You could look to Frozenboost for the cooler, or find a small import radiator at your local wrecking yard and make that work.

Ports are too small. Just go on ebay and search heat exchanger.I got a universal bar and plate water to air heat exchanger for $100. Also found a Mercedes heat exchanger for $30. Deals are out there just keep ur eyes open.

Like Roger said, check frozen boost. You can squeeze a pretty good size h/e in there if you don't mind trimming the grill (at least you can for the NBS trucks).

2 years ago I built an Air/water intercooler system for a friends' 05 Volvo S60R. Consisted of a nice aluminum air/water intercooler and the Tru-Cool 40k cooler this topic is asking about. This car boosts around 12-14 psi and in the summers of Chicago Suburbs the IAT's are maybe at ambient or slight above. Since everything is aluminum, i used Pentosin(European coolant thats blue) and for a pump I used a salt/fresh water pump. Thing works amazing let me tell you and all said and done cost $400 from ebay for all the parts. Volvo wanted 1600 for the OE interooler cores(theres 2 on the car) since a raccoon ran in front of the car one night... intercooler got foobarred. In the winter the IAT's are COOOOLLDD!!! We don't turn the pump on sometimes because its so cold out that the IAT stays ambient. whats even better is people think the car is an automatic with a trans cooler(its a 6 spd manny). Food for thought.

Frozen boost has a good one for $150. I'll probably go that route. Last time I bought from a person, I got screwed.
