how much boost will you run?

most times driveshafts only have problems at high speeds

i havent read of many problems with ujoints, rear ends break because of hard launches mostly, as long as you have an aftermarket locker/lsd

the lq4 will be better for boost

Low compression is the better choice.

If you look here the LQ4 is the 6.0L motor with the lower compression. The LQ9 is the H.O. version with 10:1 compression. When dealing with turbos, especially running the 10 - 15 psi you're talking about you're gonna want the lower compression.

Lemme shed som light on this situation......The lq4 is better when trying to do a low budget turbo project......But if you are going to spend the money either will do.....Lq4's
are cheaper and more readily available as they have been in production for a while....
The Lq9 is .7 comp ratio pts..higher,,,,,,,,The Lq4 is 9.4 whereas the Lq9 is 10.1.....
Ive built dozens of turbo cars and they are nothing but a pain in the ***....
Honestly unless you have money 2 burn run an lq4 mill the head smaller headgasket and ls6 head/intake with a nice cam.......Easily get 425-500 whp.....

But if you must go turbo I advise you research alot more before you do so,,,,,,
Turbo's require more maintenance and are difficult to service.....Also you will need a turbo timer so that when you shut off the engine the turbo doesnt "starve"
There are alot of things to consider with turbo you have to upgrade the ecu/fuel management..,...One will need some sort of "piggy-back" or standalone.....
For the type of money it will cost it will not be worth it unless you do it yourself and get deals on parts like I do myself......if you do a turbo actually a turbo setup for a 5.3 netted 627 odd hp on 93 octane......Another thing with fi is that you have to run higher octane gas due to risk of detonation knock pings etc.....
Yo will def need mater methanol injection(windshield washer fluid lol!)
This can effectively bring down the iat down 30 deg or so.....
The thermaldynamics behind it net 1hp per degree lost<

I can go on for hours...any questions either email me or pm.....It can take a long time 2 explain..... Thecarguy84@live.com
