I finished my transmission wiring today and scored some 3 1/2" flatbar for the crossmember mod. A friend of mine has a machine shop and is going to open up the centers of the valvespring seats so they'll fit my valveguides. I couldn't find any that had all the right measurements so this is what I'm going to do, short of buying all new springs, seats and retainers. This should get done next week. Until then, my progress has stopped. Will update with more as I get things done.

I got my HPTuners today. After going through this for a few hours, I must say that I haven't the slightest clue about changing the program for the new 80E. This might take awhile, the suite is not exactly user friendly! Any helpful pointers would be appreciated.

Its been a couple of years since I had to deal with this but if I remember correctly someone needs to swap in the 80E segment file into your current tuning file. I wound up finding a 3/4 ton truck with a 6L/4L80E file that matched the year of my truck and my tuner took it from there. Not sure if its been made easier lately but obtaining a 3/4 ton truck file might be an option for you.

BTW, nice setup

Read up on this link, it's explained pretty well here. Lemme know if you have more specific questions, or if you need help finding a file. I might have the one you need.

Thanks, guys. I think I've found a couple of stock tunes for 6.0/4L80E for my year. I hope they're compatable. I guess I'll need to scan my truck but I don't want to do it with all the wires disconnected from the engine and trans.

My Circle-D 3-disk torque converter came in today and it's looking good. It weighs in at 40lbs while the original is 60lbs. That's a big savings on rotational mass and should help get this thing launched. I measured everything up and it should fit perfectly.

I'm hoping my shift kit comes in today because I heard the postal employees are going on strike tomorrow here in Canada. It could get stuck at the depot.

I'm going to try and get my valve springs seats machined tonight. I hope my buddy's not too busy. He has a beautiful lathe at his place.

As soon as I posted my last post, my shift kit and neutral switch came in. I just finished installing the shift kit (pretty simple). I'm going to change the trans front seal and then she should be ready to go in.

I also painted the crossmember that I fabbed up last week. Had some paint left so I did my water pump, too. It's that good Sherwin-Williams paint and should last a long time.

I also picked up a 2-bar MAP and installed it on the blower. It's the one on the right.

I'm doing the valve seats on Sunday and should be able to get the engine together next week.
