Bearing clearances and oil pressure
#11
I wasn't after a diesel oil for my truck, just so happens that 5w40 synthetic is a little hard to find in gasoline oil. I called and spoke with some big oil tech guru over at mobile one, and he specifically recommended the mobile delco 1 esp oil for my application... He said its for gas and diesel motors, but only newer "clean" diesels with all the environmental stuff on it. That's pretty much the only reason I'm running it.
I don't think there's anything wrong with my setup, just really wanted to know what people see from cold start to hot driving oil psi, on their setups. See how much oil psi they lose between the two

I recommend running VR1 or Brad Penn oil with turbo motors. The high zinc helps them live longer.
I also recommend an oil cooler if you really want to help out your pressure issues. With a turbo setup with no oil cooler, just easy driving around I bet your oil temp is 250-300 (mine maxed out a 250F gauge in a few minutes of putting around the block), and higher when beating on it. Turbos break down the oil very quickly because of the high heat.

Most never check...I put a gauge on mine because I was curious, and like I said after a few minutes of very light driving around the block my oil temps were maxed out on the gauge at 250+. With a generic 1x5x10ish B&M cooler they stayed in the 200-220 range.

How are they now with just the blower? I have a factory cooler but never checked temp.

I've got a radiator with the factory oil cooler/heater... You think it would be efficient at keeping oil temps in check on the turbo setup?

That's what I'm gonna do... I really had no idea oil temps got that high with a turbo setup! Makes sense now that after driving for a 15-30 min, that oil pressure drops!
